The Anathemata

Rite and Fore-time (continued)

In the high cave they prepare

for guest to be the hostia.

David Jones notes

additional notes

high cave: the upper room.

hostia: literally, victim (Latin); but the word play reminds us the the consecrated bread at the Mass is called the host; and that Jesus would be the guest of the owner of the upper room, and also the host who receives his disciples as guests as well as being the hostia for them.
