a meaning, I think, that what is happening in the high-room is being done in accordance with the rites of the Jewish Passover; but there is also the idea in the following words that what is happening was also pre-ordained even before the world was created.
The reference to oreogenesis in an indication of a new theme: that of mountains. This theme is going to play an important part iater in this part. It is hinted at in the following paragraph and elaborated more fully in the next major theme beginning on page 55.
