additional notes

b Hector’s part in the Iliad is to be guardian or bulwark of Troy. Achilles pursued Hector around the walls of Troy three times before catching and killing him.

c The association of Helen with the moon (Elene, Selene) is mentioned in both Homer and Virgil.

comments

‘high’ reminds us of the mountains being lifted up in the Great Cycle.

‘lifted up’ reminds us of the same but also of the efficacious ‘things lifted up’ which are part of the anathemata.
