It was in the fifth century BCE when the name of the sculptor started being attached to a carving. But the high level of technical skill was coming close to destroying the divine inspiration behind the carving.

Wellington famously commented on the Battle of Waterloo that it was ‘the nearest-run thing you ever saw in your life’.
