The Anathemata

Mabinog’s Liturgy (continued)

Who did him wash

and did his swaddlings wring?

Who did and mended for him?

Who repaired for him his tunic of one weave

now in Treventum?a —so it is said.

David Jones notes

additional notes

a The reference here is to the Holy Coat of Trier, the coat without seam that the soldiers took off the body of Christ and cast lots for when it was taken down off the Cross (John 19:23).

There is a slip here — possibly by the witch, possibly by DJ. The Roman name for Trier was Trevorum not Treventum.
