For the textus must be taken back to the Stone, because the court-capelwr1 (who is offerant on this night) is waiting, by the Stone, to kiss the textus, and to say into it, quietly, this couplet:
Per evangelica dicta
Deleantur nostra delicta.2

2 ‘By the words of the gospel may our faults be blotted out.’ See the rubric directing what is to be done after the singing of the gospel: ‘The sub-deacon takes the book to the priest who kisses the Gospel and says’ Per evangelica, etc., as above quoted. The g in evangelica is to be soft.
